Although Jet Tech dishwashers are known for their dependability and longevity, occasional maintenance is to be expected. If you’re experiencing issues with your unit, this Jet Tech dishwasher troubleshooting guide will help you keep your machine in good working order.

These instructions are for high-temp dishwashers, such as the F-18DP undercounter and F-22 door-type models. 

Dishwasher Won’t Start

  • Unit isn’t plugged in - Plug the power cord into an electrical outlet.
  • Unit isn’t turned on - Use the power button to turn the unit on.
  • Fuse is blown or circuit breaker is tripped - Check the circuit breaker. If needed, call a licensed electrician for service.
  • Door micro switch is faulty - Call an authorized technician to service the unit.
  • Momentary relay is defective or disconnected - Schedule an appointment with a licensed technician to remedy the issue.
  • Pressure switch is faulty - Contact an authorized technician to address the issue.
  • Timer is defective - Schedule a service appointment with an authorized technician.
  • Washing cycle button is defective - Call a licensed technician to solve the issue.
  • Solenoid valve is dirty or defective - Either clean the valve or contact a licensed technician to remedy the issue.
  • Wiring has a break or short to ground - Schedule an appointment with a licensed electrician to address the issue.

Machine Won’t Drain / Takes Too Long To Drain (More Than 2 Minutes)

  • Drain outlet hose is blocked or kinked - If the hose is clogged, remove the blockage. If it’s kinked, straighten it out.
  • Drain pump may be blocked or defective - If the drain pump is clogged, remove the obstruction. If it’s faulty, call an authorized technician to remedy the issue.
  • Overflow pipe is clogged - Remove the obstruction from the pipe.

Dishwasher Is Overflowing

  • Drain outlet hose is blocked or kinked - Remove the obstruction to unclog the hose or reposition the hose to straighten it.
  • Drain pump is blocked or faulty - Clean out the drain pump to unclog it. If the drain pump is defective, contact an authorized technician to address the issue.
  • Income water pressure is too high (above 30 PSI) - If the incoming water pressure is more than 30 PSI, schedule a service appointment with a licensed technician to solve the issue.
  • Normal dish detergent is used in the machine, creating soap suds - If normal dish soap is used in the machine, drain the tank to remove as much of the sudsing as possible. Leave the overflow out and let the unit run for 2-4 minutes. Then, turn the unit off, reinstall the overflow, and refill the unit. If sudsing continues, repeat the process.
  • Solenoid valve is dirty or defective - Either clean the valve or contact an authorized technician to remedy the issue.

Unit Won’t Fill / Takes Too Long To Fill (More Than 3 Minutes)

  • Incoming water pressure is too low (under 20 PSI) - If the incoming water pressure is less than 20 PSI, make sure the faucet is fully opened. If the faucet is fully opened and the water pressure is still too low, call an authorized technician to solve the issue.
  • Stand-pipe isn’t set correctly - Remove the stand-pipe, clean the seat and then reinstall it. If issues persist, call a licensed technician to remedy the issue.
  • Air pressure switch is faulty - Contact an authorized technician to service the dishwasher.
  • Air trap is dirty - Clean the air trap.
  • Solenoid valve is dirty or defective - Either clean the solenoid valve or contact a licensed technician to address the issue.

Dishwasher Isn’t Cleaning Dishes Properly 

  • Scrap screens are dirty - Clean the scrap screens and filters, including the wash pump screen.
  • Wash/rinse arm jets are clogged - Clean the jets/nozzles, being careful to not lose the o-rings.
  • Detergent system is defective - Call an authorized technician to solve the issue.
  • Dishes weren’t pre-rinsed - Be sure to pre-rinse the dishes before placing them in the dishwasher.
  • Drain outlet hose is blocked or kinked - Remove the obstruction if the hose is clogged, and straighten out the hose if it’s kinked.
  • Drain pump is blocked or defective - If the drain pump is blocked, remove the obstruction; if it’s faulty, call a licensed technician to remedy the issue.
  • Incoming water pressure is either too low or too high (under 20 PSI or above 30 PSI) - If the water pressure isn’t within the proper range, call an authorized technician to address the issue.
  • Water isn’t clean - If the water isn’t clean, drain the tank, rinse and refill. If issues persist, schedule a service appointment with a licensed technician.
  • Water is hard - If small specs are on dishes, glasses and cutlery after washing, install a water softener to remove the minerals from the wash water.
  • Water level in the wash tank is incorrect - The water level should be just under the opening of the overflow pipe. If the water level is too high or too low, contact an authorized technician to remedy the issue.
  • Air pressure switch is faulty - Contact an authorized technician to service the unit.
  • Air trap is dirty - Clean the air trap.
  • Detergent is of poor quality - Use a higher-quality dish detergent to ensure proper cleaning.
  • Solenoid valve is dirty or defective - Either clean the solenoid valve or call a technician to address the issue.
  • Wash pump is clogged or defective - Clean the wash pump if it’s blocked or contact a licensed technician if the wash pump is faulty.

Machine Is Making Noise

  • Too much detergent is in the wash tank - Use the recommended amount of non-foaming detergent.
  • Mechanical seals are worn - Contact an authorized technician to remedy the issue.

Unit Is Filling Constantly

  • Dishwasher has been inactive/not been drained in a long time (more than 3 hours) - Turn the unit off, pull the overflow and drain the machine completely. Then, clean the wash tank and filters before replacing the parts, closing the door, turning the unit on and letting it fill.
  • Overflow tube (stand-pipe) isn’t positioned properly - Check for cracks at the base of the pipe. Also, if the seat is dirty, clean it.
  • Air pressure switch is faulty - Contact an authorized technician to address the issue.
  • Water level system has an air leak - Schedule a service appointment with a licensed technician.

Filling Is Too Short (Less Than 1 Minute)

  • Air pressure switch is faulty - Call a licensed technician to address the issue.
  • Incoming water pressure is too high (above 30 PSI) - Contact an authorized technician to remedy the issue.
  • Air trap is dirty - Clean the air trap.

Wash Pump Not Operating Continuously During Wash Cycle

  • Dishwasher isn’t level - Level the unit.
  • Air pressure switch is faulty - Call an authorized technician for service.
  • Air trap is dirty - Clean the air trap.
  • Water level in the wash tank is too low - The water should be level with the stand-pipe opening. If the water level is too low, either adjust the pressure switch or call an authorized technician to address the issue.

Pilot Lights Aren’t Working

  • Pilot lamps are faulty - Call an authorized technician to service the unit.
  • Electrical supply isn’t sufficient - Make sure the unit is turned on and that the power cord is plugged into an electrical outlet. Be sure to check the circuit breaker as well. If issues with the electrical supply persist, call a licensed electrician to address the issue.

Wash Cycle Is Too Short

  • Timer is defective - Call a licensed technician to address the issue.
