Dormont Quick Disconnect Cleaning

Stick to routine maintenance by making sure you clean your Dormont quick disconnect gas hose and other essential gas parts. By keeping hoses and equipment maintained, you can keep them safe from build-up and efficient to operate. Below we will help go over Dormont quick disconnect cleaning and how to reconnect the gas afterwards. 

Quick Disconnect Cleaning

  • Step 1. Turn off unit - Turn the unit off and pull it away from the wall until the restraining cable is taut. 
  • Step 2. Turn off gas supply - To turn off the gas supply, use the manual shutoff valve or the Safety Quik located off the main manifold line. Both handles of the shutoff valve or Safety Quik should be perpendicular to the valves. 
  • Step 3. Unplug any extra cords - Unplug any electrical cords in the area that is going to be cleaned. 
  • Step 4. Disconnect gas connector - Disconnect the gas connector from the appliance using either the SnapFast QD, the Standard Snap QD, or the Safety Quik.
  • Step 5. Detach restraining cable - Detach the restraining cable snap hook on the wall.
  • Step 6. Pull unit away from wall - Carefully pull the appliance away from the wall.
  • Step 7. Clean behind unit - Clean behind the unit, making sure no grease, dirt, cleaning solutions or chemicals enter the SnapFast QD, the Standard Snap QD or the gas line.
  • Step 8. Inspect components - Inspect the Dormont quick disconnect gas hose, gas connector, fittings, restraining cable and attachment points at the wall and the appliance. Any repairs or replacements will need to be done by an authorized service agent. 

Reconnecting the Gas Line

  1. Step 1. Reconnect Dormont disconnects - Reconnect the SnapFast QD, Standard Snap QD or Safety Quik.
  2. Step 2. Reattach restraining cable - Reattach the restraining cable to the wall. 
  3. Step 3. Plug in cords - Plug in any previously disconnected electrical plugs. 
  4. Step 4. Turn gas shutoff valve on - Turn the handle on the manual gas shutoff valve or Safety Quik to the “On” position. The handle of both the manual shutoff valve and the Safety Quik should be parallel to the valves.
  5. Step 5. Push unit back against wall - Push the unit back towards the wall into position.
  6. Step 6. Relight pilot light - If needed, relight the pilot light and turn the unit back on.
