Not Starting 

An Electrolux washing machine that doesn’t work is a washing machine in need of troubleshooting. Usually, the electronics or accidental programming mishaps have something to do with it and don’t require a call to the handyman. 

Cause

Solution

Open door (E 40 error code displays on screen)

Close the door

The power cord is not plugged in 

Plug in the power cord

Tripped circuit breaker

Flip the circuit breaker 

Wash cycle wasn’t started

Press the Start/Pause button

Washer is set to “Delay End”

Cancel “Delay End”

The main power supply is fluctuating (EH0 error code displays on screen)

Wait until the power supply stabilizes. The washer will start automatically

Not Filling with Water 

Nowadays, washing machines are extremely resource efficient, meaning they don’t use a lot of electricity or water to function with results equivalent to washers of old. This could be the case, but if you’re still worried about it, check out these common solutions:

Closed water valve (E 10 error code displays on screen)

Open the water valve

Kinked or blocked inlet hose (E 10 error code displays on screen)

Straighten or unblock the inlet hose

Open door (E40 error code displays on screen)

Close the door

Fills then Drains Again 

If your washer is filling and immediately draining again, it’s likely an issue with the positioning of the drain hose. Of course, there are other technical issues that could be causing this, but those are best left up to the professionals.

Raise drain hose

Blown fuse

Replace fuse

Not Draining/Not Spinning 

A residential or commercial washer that’s not draining or spinning has likely issues with the hoses or programming. Check out these common Electrolux washing machine troubleshooting hints to get a better idea of how you can fix it.

Press Start/Pause to drain the water. Then, select the spin cycle

Unbalanced load

Redistribute the load

Is Leaking 

If your washer’s lifeblood is ending up on the floor, it doesn’t take a professional to realize something is wrong. Besides gunning for the mop and towels, try checking the hoses.

Not Cleaning Clothes 

Maybe you want to go to bed and you can’t sleep with all that white noise in the background. Or perhaps the clothing situation has turned dire and you’re confronted with wearing the same shirt for the third day in a row or calling a service technician. Before you do that, there might be an easy solution at hand.

Not using enough or the right kind of detergent

Door Not Opening

Uh oh. You’ve tried the door and it won’t budge. What’s going on? Likely, it’s nothing major. It could be that your washing machine is taking a pause and will resume shortly. If your washing machine says there’s been 20 minutes left on the cycle for the last 40 minutes, it’s time to take a look under the hood.

Load the washer after it’s turned on

Making Noise 

Sometimes unusual or loud noises coming from the laundry room are just normal operational noises that are nothing to worry about. Other times, it might mean you need to check a few areas for loose connections or pocket change.

Transit bolts and packaging are still attached

Remove the 3 transit bolts, hose holders and plastic spacers. Remember to close the holes with the provided caps 

Washing machine is not level 

Adjust the support feet 

Unbalanced load

Redistribute the load

Load size is too light

Add more laundry

Rickety or suspended floors

Place waterproof 15mm wooden panel under the washer

Loose hoses

Check connections and secure the hoses

Clogged drain filter

Empty the drain filter

Clothing is caught in the door 

Pause cycle and remove clothing 

Zippers, buttons, loose change, etc.

Wash clothes inside out and remove items from pockets 

Dirty door hinges
