Norlake Back Bar Installation Instructions

With their steel construction, LED lights and coated exterior, Norlake back bar refrigerators are valuable assets in any foodservice environment. If you’re looking to add one of these units to your establishment, these Norlake back bar installation instructions will help you set up your new equipment properly.
This guide is for AdvantEDGE™ models, both standard-depth units, such as the NLBB59, as well as shallow-depth machines, like the BB48N.
Supplies
- Warm Water
- Mild Detergent
- Cleaning Cloths
- NSF-approved silicone sealant (if sealing is required per local health codes)
Be sure to check the unit when it arrives to make sure all items were received and that nothing was damaged during transit. If the equipment is in poor condition when it arrives, notify the carrier immediately.
Clean the Refrigerator
- Step 1. Wash the unit - Use warm water, mild detergent and a soft cloth to clean the interior and exterior. Remember to avoid using chlorine-based cleaners, as these can be corrosive.
- Step 2. Rinse the machine - Wipe away any remaining dust or suds with a damp cloth.
- Step 3. Dry the equipment - Soak up any remaining moisture with a clean, soft cloth.
Locate the Unit
- Step 1. Find a location - Identify a place for the refrigerator where the floor can support the weight and the power cord can reach the outlet. Avoid putting the unit near heat-generating equipment or in direct sunlight so that the unit doesn’t have to work harder to maintain the correct internal temperature.
- Step 2. Verify electrical compatibility - Make sure that the electrical outlet has the correct voltage, frequency and current carrying capacity for the refrigerator. Refer to the data plate in the unit interior for information on the machine’s specifications.
- Step 3. Position the refrigerator - Move the unit into place, making sure that there is at least 2 inches of space (5.08CM) behind standard-depth models and the wall. For shallow-depth models, there should be at least 7 inches (17.78CM) of space.
- Step 4. Plug in the unit - Connect the machine to a power source by plugging the power cord into the electrical outlet. Don’t use an extension cord, as this can affect performance and safety. If the building is old, contact a licensed electrician to ensure that the outlet is grounded.
Ready for Operation
- Step 1. Seal to the floor (if necessary) - Apply sealant around the base of the unit if it’s not on legs or casters, as required by local health codes.
- Step 2. Install the shelves - Insert the shelf support clips into the interior walls, and then set the shelves on the supports, adjusting as needed.
- Step 3. Set the temperature - Use the temperature controller on the inside left wall of the cabinet to select the desired temperature. Allow several hours for the temperature to stabilize before placing food products in the machine.
- Step 4. Load the unit - Place food products in the unit, taking care so as not to block the air duct on the left side of the cabinet.
- Step 5. Use the equipment normally - You may now use the refrigerator normally.
